Service Description

Each week, students will be led through a Yin and/or Restorative practice. Yin and Restorative Yoga practices both stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, promote relaxation, and help calm the mind, with the attention on the breath. Both practices are a beautiful way to reconnect with your true self, your “atman” or the soul within. These classes are gentle and suitable for all ages and levels - from those who are new to yoga to experienced practitioners.* While both practices are slow-paced and stress-relieving, they are also very different. Yin consists of stretching and applying gentle pressure to certain tissues working to get past the muscle into the fascia. Poses are held for 1 to 5 minutes, and students learn to find their edge. Restorative Yoga is a contemplative practice that uses props to totally support the body, enabling the release of mind and body tension. It is a slow-paced practice that works to release deep tension passively, without active stretch and can help a student restore the body back to its normal flexibility and mobility, and can be highly beneficial to speed up the healing process after injury or prolonged inactivity. By gently moving the body and supporting it comfortably in various asanas, restorative yoga helps to increase blood circulation and detoxification and prevent the formation of excessive scar tissue. *Modifications and Intenseifications will be given to meet each student's needs. 60 Minute Class. Beginners & all levels. Must register as space is limited. Bring a mat, blanket or towel, & water. Mats & blankets available free of charge.
